Here are some photos of my finished book from last year'

s swap.  My theme was home and garden and I received some absolutely gorgeous pages from around the world.  They were all so different but came together wonderfully.  I added the covers, inside covers and 1 whole page to even the numbers to have pages in pairs (signatures).  I stitched each pair by hand along the inside edge loose enough for the double page to lay flat.  The covers had a hinge to wrap around the spine.

No. 2 in Bush Fire series

Better do another post before I forget how to do it!
This is No 2 in the bush Fire Series and it is called "Premonition"

The photos are printed on fabric, some with digital manipulation, others printed onto dyed cotton to give a hazy effect.  Leaves or handmade silk paper appliques and there is a partial overlay of net.

Introduction

Introduction.  From Frances -  Trying to get this blogging thing going!

So far so good - loaded a photo.....this is " Ignition" and is No. 1 of the Bush Fire series, a challenge to produce 5 mini quilts (size 12 x 15 ) subject own choice, but must be linked either by colour, design or style.  The twist in the brief was to include a graffiti tag which we had designed.
I'll load the others if this actually appears.

Funky bird for Cobi by Shelly
The first page I made was a funky bird for Cobi. Living in South Florida, I thought a flamingo would be a good choice and, of course, she needed sun glasses.  I hand stamped some white fabrics with ink and tore them into smaller pieces and sewed them down to make the background.  I added colorful recatangles of fabric on 3 sides of the border and faux prairie points to the right side. I fused the blue water down first. and sewed over it with blue thread. I fused the bird and machine stitched with black thread.  I painted in her wing.  I cut the sunglasses from some fabric and stitched them down.  The black on the wing and tail is plastic webbing that held produce previously.  The flower was in my stash.  Her head just looked too bare. I also painted in the knees yellow to add a spark of color.  It still needed something so I added the pink swirls by couching yarn.
Hi everyone I am Shelly from South Florida in the United States.  I love making fabric books because I can try new techniques, experiment with color and texture, and test out composition ideas in a small format.  Besides participating in a page swap with this group, my local quilt guild has a book challenge this year as well.  I love to add embellishments and hand stitching to my work -- both large quilts and fabric book pages.  I dabble in paper and fabric arts because I find that techniques learned in either paper or fabric are transferable to the other.

Hi everyone, I'm Teresa and I live in Australia. I am currently travelling around Australia with my husband in our caravan and its a great country & a wonderful life, I'm very lucky. I love embroidery and textile art and while I don't consider myself to be an expert in either, I do enjoy "puddling" around.
These pages have been fun to make and wonderful to receive. Everyone has different ideas and interpretations of the nominated topic so its exciting to be a part of this fantastic group of very talented ladies.

This is me

Hi, Cobi here. At the left a recent picture of me, taken at a felting workshop.
I'm a mom to one daughter. Her boyfriend and her best girlfriend both call me mom too. I have an adorable one year old grand daughter. And a pussycat, who happens to have her birthday today. My daughter and family live with me.
I'm from the Netherlands, A small country in the west of Europe, I live rather close to the North Sea in an old town named Leiden.
I love anything textile/fabric/yarn/thread.
I knit, crochet, embroider, tat, make needle lace, love stumpwork and silk embroidery, free machine stitching, art quilting, scrumbling, dyeing, painting.
My favorite theme is nature.
Ferns, flowers, mushrooms and trees.
Right now I'm very busy with birds. I made the little painting of the blue tit (see below) for my mom's birthday. I painted the bird, the backgroundfabric is hand dyed, the coughed threads are knitting yarns, the leaves are cut from silk, painted and the edges burned. The flowers are silk flowers, bought as they are.
